VISitOR Compass & Locater 3.1


Application Description

VISitOR Compass & Locater is a complete scientific compass that allows you to easily get the location you are currently in and by orienting your device based on the position of the Sun, the Moon or the stars to quickly determine the North direction. 
1 Instantly set your location by picking a city from 3000+ cities available. 
2 Orient your device (holding it horizontally) towards the Sun, the Moon or the Polar Star and? 
3 You are ready to go! 
You will immediately be able to find the North direction, but that is not all. Visitor Compass & Locater will calculate the distance from your location to more than 3000 cities all around the world; or will show you the shades that the Sun or the Moon currently cast on the Earth surface. The program consists of 3 main tabs: Compass, World, and Stars. 

- Compass: 
The Compass tab shows you the North direction relative to the position of the Sun or the Moon. By tapping on any one of the 3 icons (Sun, Moon, North direction), you can orient the compass in several different ways. The application uses MathLib (http://www.radiks.net/~rhuebner/mathlib.zip).There is also information about the current date, time, time zone, latitude and longitude of the geographic location as well as the name of the place you are currently in. 

- World (Locater) 
The World tab displays the World?s view. 
There are 4 choices provided to you. The first 2 options allow you to view the area of the world that is currently illuminated by the Sun or by the Moon. 
The third option allows you to set your current location. Simply tap on the map and you will get a list of the nearby cities from our 3000+ cities database. If you can't find you specific location, tap the Edit button and you will get a dialog that allows you to set an exact geographic position in terms of latitude and longitude. Also using this dialog you can name the location you are currently in and you can set the time zone, including the Daylight Savings Time (DST). If you choose the option ?None? for the DST, then you can switch it on and off by simply tapping on the field that displays it. 
The fourth option allows you to determine the distance between your current location and any city from the world that is in our 3000+ cities database. Simply tap on the map and you will get a list of the nearby cities. At all times the World tab displays information about the time, time zone, current latitude and longitude, as well as the name of the location you are in. 

- Stars 
The Stars tab displays an astronomic star map with the position of some major star systems, including the Polar Star, the Little and the Great Dipper, etc.

Our new VISitOR Compass & Locater 3.1 now has COLOR and will better help you in navigating your world. 
This new version has and more rich set of pre-recorded cities locations. Enjoy. 

Version 2.1

It is much easier to set / find your city geographic location. 
There is an easy to use find feature. 
More cities will pop up in the list by taping in a certain place on the world map. 
Want to know the distance between two cities?
This feature is much more intuitive to use now, with the new pop up help dialog.
